Me & AVG 8 Have Made Nice ...
There was an abundance of HATE with my first install. Machine was sluggish and I had a red *!* because email was not configured. Some of us do not use outlook for ANYTHING. My email is all web-based and that *!* pissed me off.
Configuring AVG 8
It is kinda funny because I googled my AVG problems and many people said they installed, had issues, uninstalled and reinstalled and all was well. I did the same except I am here to tell you WHAT to do differently because my system is back to snapping at my every beck and call. I do not know WHERE I went right, I can only say follow my path and you TOO shall embrace AVG again ....
Download AVG 8.0 from AVG server and NOT CNet resource.
Disconnect from internets
Uninstall AVG 8.0 via add/remove programs. Restart.
Install AVG 8.0 and choose *custom* install
Say NO-NO NANNETTE to email scanning
and any toolbar that is offered (this goes for ANY program)
Let install ride. Pour a drink because you are FABULOUS, BABY.
I take it all back, the badmouthing of AVG 8.0
I even ran a scan while I surfed

was no where near as sluggish as it used to be.

I *FINALLY* saw Iron Man tonight.
There is NO WAY to explain how PERFECT he played the roll of Tony Stark and how hard I smiled witnessing this HUGE notch/comeback in RDJ's belt after hearing how successful last weekend was at the BOX OFFICE for this film. We are looking at April 2010 for the sequel with Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury (spoiler) ..as seen if you stick around after the Iron Man credits, like we did.

I do not need email scan, AV scan, link check .... smells like Norton runs like a Norton. I just want AVG for my PC. The extra does not impress me. Frankly, It just makes me frown and all of a sudden it is NOT something I would put on a client's PC because all of a sudden it is not easy to manage....

10 Years Ago I was not on the internet. Clueless...
I was sitting in a field 2xs the size of a football field FILLED with dandelions with a 2yr old girl & a 6 yr old boy. We would spend hours in this field a short walk from our house making dandelion bracelets and necklaces. Z ran free just a dot in my eye, but he often brought back thick stems we split in half and put in water to make curly Q's.
When the field turned white, we lost our breath making wishes.

1. Move everything over to the other side of the call center because Sid Vicious was working on either the phone lines or a router. I never got the full story.
2. Bitch to at least five people that Sid Vicious should have spent the evening before making sure that the computers on the other side of the call center had all SEVEN systems that we need to do our jobs. Money was lost because a handful of us were running around making this happen while calls were sitting in queue.
3. Verbally calm disgruntled shoppers whose orders were halted because they did not enter the proper billing address/credit card number/CVC code on their order.
4. Hug My Mother. It had been a week since I saw her. She was on The Walk to Emmaus. If you have not, it is recommended that you DO, according to her.
5. Computer Club. It was my New Years Resolution to attend more Computer Club meetings because I always learn something new. Tonight I learned about bluejeanscable.com High quality cables at a better price.
I always go into computer club promising myself I will not shoot my mouth off. Still learning restraint. Tonight I was handed a business card by the OWNER of a computer services company. I gave my card to an elderly gentleman who was running several anti-virus programs at one time and wondering why his system was "sluggish".
While handing it over, I explained I was NOT here to strum up business, that I was simply willing to help him. I told him I would work on his system for 2 hours or less for free in order to get it running faster. He took my card. I hope he calls.
I am curious at this point with how much I can help him.

Years later Katie Daily threw a Senior party and The Nopper showed up. I do not know how Katie knew Cardinal Stritch student body, but I was delighted to see him & watch him make a play for me. Looking back at the situation (and 30-something) I should have let it happen, but he was denied. He was just too mean to me, regardless of hotness.
It felt good to drive away, his astounded face caught in my headlights while I smiled to myself because I knew at the time that I got what I needed from him. Acceptance.

How To Cook A Steak cuz whiney-assed men wanna know
If you have a meat store near your daily venture into the public stop buying steaks/meat at the grocery store! The cuts at the meat store are much leaner & fresher than Wonder Bread.®
No worcestershire sauce? You are not prepared for the job. D swears by Lea & Perrins® brand, cause his Daddy did, but I have bought the $1 bottle before and was not disappointed. I suggest you marinate your meat store steaks in worcestershire for at least 2 hours in advance. Overnight if possible. My favorite addition is garlic cloves & raw onion.. for flavor only.
Grill on the lowest heat possible. Propane grills are only tolerated if you purchase woodchips and a burner to hold them because lava rocks do not offer flavor regardless what the bag may declare. Don't believe the hype. If life were perfect it would always be a charcoal grill with a fully-loaded watergun nearby to maintain the perfect flame. Only gas broilers are acceptable if you do not have access to a grill.
All steaks should be eaten rare. No exceptions. Every time you overcook a steak, God kills a kitty. But I am sure you have no idea of the easiest way to determine the doneness of a steak. You only need and index finger and a face, therefore you all have the right tools. Pinkies accepted for equal-opportunity reasons.
All good wives know that you NEVER pierce the steak unless it is on a plate ready to be eaten so you have to be able to tell the status of the steak without the completely unacceptable cut-n-peek. Using pressure, you have to check for resistance.

Everything I ever needed to know about wiki I learned from a Wolf
I am slacking tonight. I was gung-ho on plugging in content into a wiki that needs my attention. A wiki that I had NO IDEA how to contribute to until I got a crash course from Winston Wolf tonight .. who is a very good teacher. I found myself *astounded* as to how easy it is to build -- this from a hand coder and ubergeek that never learned how to wiki.
I knew _enough_ about wiki to have my mind BLOWN when Wolf-Boy mentioned he uses a wiki to keep track of his clients.

IE vs. FireFox (browser wars) my opinion

Got a question for ya. I've been hearing people saying that they switched to Mozilla over IE, and I remember that you said the same. What specifically is the advantage?
Great question!
About 3 yrs ago, it was just plain safer because most virus/spyware took advantage of vulnerabilities in IE. I am under the impression (now that IE 7 is out, with 8 on the way) that Microsoft has stronger security than previous versions. But keep in mind IE is still the most widely used internet browser therefore, it is still a larger target than the Firefox (Moziilla)browser.
Another advantage to Firefox (Mozilla) is that it is open source and that means the kernel of the program is available to the public for fixes. If a vulnerability is found in FireFox, there is usually a fix within 24 hours because ANY programmer can write a fix and make it available to the public, whereas with IE you may have to wait weeks/months for the fix to be released by Microsoft.
BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT FIREFOX are the extensions.
These are small little programs that work within the browser to add additional function so you can kinda personalize the browser.

Skype extension (if a phone number is on a website/email, I can click and call that number because I use Skype. Skype is a separate program. It uses your internet connection as a phone line and you can call anywhere in the US and Canada - $30/yr)
These are small (size wise) add-ons that integrate right into the browser. This is why open source is advantageous. There are literally millions of people writing great programs that work with the browser. ALL FREE.
If you are thinking about trying it, TRY IT! During the installation process you will be prompted to add your IE bookmarks/favorites to the browser, so don't let that be an excuse. You will STILL HAVE IE regardless if you want to go back and your bookmarks/favorites will remain there as well.
If you do want to try it, you can play with THEMES as well.

You can change the way Firefox looks. I personally do not like the default theme. I like small and sleek. The theme I use is LITTLE FIREFOX because it is small and gives me more screen room for browsing.
